Not sure where to start?Let’s have a chat.

You might have questions about counselling. Or you might just want to meet the person you’ll be talking to.

A free 15 minute phone chat gives us a chance to talk briefly about what brings you here and see whether working together feels right.

An introduction, not a counselling session.
There’s no obligation to book anything afterwards.

Fabian McCalman, counsellor at Bird House Counselling
Hi, I’m Fabian.Counsellor at Bird House Counselling

What we can talk about

You don’t need the right words.

We can begin with what you know, what you’re unsure about, and what you’d like to ask.

Tell me a little.

What has brought you here, or what you’re hoping might change. You don’t need to tell your whole story.

Ask what you need.

How sessions work, what they cost, or whether individual or couples counselling might suit what you’re looking for.

Get a feel for it.

Meet me, hear how I work and see whether you’d feel comfortable talking with me.

What happens afterwards?

You decide what comes next.

We can talk about whether counselling with me would suit and what a next step might look like. You can book a session, take some time to think, or decide it isn’t for you.

Before we talk

A few questions
you might have.

You’re welcome to ask about anything else during the chat.

Do I need to prepare anything?

No. You can bring a question or simply tell me you’re not sure where to begin. Choose somewhere you feel comfortable talking, and check the appointment details in your booking confirmation.

Can I ask about couples counselling on my own?

Yes. You can have the introductory chat on your own to ask about couples counselling and discuss a possible next step. The chat isn’t a couples counselling session.

Is this a counselling session?

No. It’s a brief introduction so you can ask questions and see whether working together feels right. There isn’t time to explore things in the depth we would in a paid session.

What if phone calls are difficult for me?

You can email the Bird House team first. Let us know what would make getting in touch easier, and we can discuss the options with you.

The introductory chat is not an emergency support service.

No need to wait for an introduction
