Every relationship faces challenges. Whether you're navigating constant conflict, feeling disconnected, or recovering from a breach of trust, it can feel isolating and overwhelming. Couples counselling provides a safe, neutral space where you and your partner can be heard, understood, and equipped with the practical tools to break negative cycles. My approach is not about choosing sides; it's about helping you both become allies again, working together to build a stronger, more resilient partnership.

My Approach to Couples Counselling

I believe that every couple possesses the strengths needed to heal and grow. My role is to help you access those strengths and break the patterns that leave you feeling stuck.

I draw on evidence-based methods, including:

  • The Gottman Method: This practical approach provides us with a framework to manage conflict, increase intimacy, and build a culture of appreciation and respect. We'll work on skills that foster a deeper friendship and create shared meaning in your relationship.

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT): EFT helps us understand the underlying emotional needs and attachment bonds that drive your interactions. By identifying the "cycle" of conflict, we can move from confrontation and frustration to empathy, connection, and security.

Our sessions will be a collaborative process where we focus on understanding each other's perspectives, improving communication, and rebuilding trust. I am committed to creating a supportive and non-judgmental environment where you can feel safe to be open and vulnerable.

What to expect.

  • Firstly book a free 15min chat to see if we gel and whats going on for each of you.

  • Over 2 joint 80min sessions we talk about what problems you are facing and what about them you would like to change and what successful change would look like.

  • We then have individual 50min sessions with each of the partners to determine what there needs are within the relationship

  • We then come back in a 50min joint session to complete the assessment and come up with a plan (The option to continue 80min sessions is available)

  • We look for things that you have used in the past that helped and come up with new ideas

  • We check in weekly/fortnightly/monthly to chat about whats come up and how things are progressing continually implementing new changes.

  • Once you are where you need to be we finish up.

Depending on whats going on for the couple will determine how long this process takes.
